Vaughan, Henry
(17 abr. 1622, Llansantffraed, Breconshire, Gales–23 abr. 1695, Llansantffraed).

Poeta y místico anglo-galés. Si bien Vaughan cursó estudios en leyes, en la década de 1650 ejerció la medicina. Luego de escribir dos volúmenes de poesía secular, leyó al poeta religioso George Herbert y abandonó la "poesía frívola. Se le recuerda básicamente por la visión o imaginación espiritual característica de su poesía religiosa, convincente y lozana; es considerado uno de los grandes exponentes de la poesía metafísica. Entre las obras poéticas que mejor reflejan la profundidad de sus convicciones religiosas se destacan Silex Scintillans [Sílex brillante] (1650, aumentada en 1655) y en prosa Mount of Olives [Monte de los Olivos] (1652). También tradujo pequeñas obras morales y religiosas y dos obras sobre medicina.
